From the Chairman's Desk...
February 2012
As we enter this, our 15th year, I am pleased to report to Mayor McCormac, The Municipal Council, and YOU, the taxpaying residents of the Township of Woodbridge, "The BEST Town Around" has started 2012 "complaint FREE !!"
However, That doesn't mean it is quiet... At the end of 2011, the C.A.P. donated $1,500.00 to the Woodbridge Township Food Bank Committee "WE FEED" to ensure many more of our township residents enjoyed a hot meal during Christmas Holidays.
One of our extremely active members, The Colonial Pipeline Company, who is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and operates a tank farm facility on Blair Road, in the Avenel section of the municipality, made a $ 3,000.00 donation to the Woodbridge Township School District. As an active supporter of our "Safety Day" Emergency Services program, Colonial Pipeline recognizes the importance of "giving back" to the local community. Greg Stewart, the Lead Operator at Colonial's Linden Junction (Avenel) facility, identified six (6) schools located within one-half mile of their pipeline, and was successful in securing the donations to Port Reading School #9, Ross Street School #11, Ford Avenue School #14, Lafayette Estates School #25, Matthew Jago School #28, and Fords Middle School. Each school received a $ 500.00 gift from Colonial.
The funds were officially turned over to Woodbridge Twp. School Superintendent Dr. John A. Crowe, and the Members of the Woodbridge Twp. Board of Education at a Press Conference on February 9th at the School 9 Media Center.
We are extremely proud of the Colonial Pipeline Company, for this donation to our schools, their support of the Community Advisory Panel's programs, and their committment to keeping Woodbridge Township's environment safe & clean. The Linden Junction (Avenel) facility has a OUTSTANDING Safety Record, and works with our local emergency responders to upgrade and advance training and security procedures.
This past week, Hess Corporation conducted a maintenance "SHUT DOWN" of its Port Reading Refinery.Contractors, hired by Hess, will be working in the plant to upgrade the many systems used in the refining process.
Our Industrial Members (Chemtura - King Georges Rd., Fords, Colonial Pipeline Co. - Blair Rd., Avenel, Conrail - Port Reading Ave., Port Reading, Hess Corporation - Hess Plaza, Woodbridge, Motiva Enterprises - State St., Sewaren, PSEG - Cliff Rd., Sewaren, and PQ Corporation - Paddock St., Avenel) are working harder than ever to keep Woodbridge Township's residents safe.
The Community Advisory Panel (C.A.P.) was formed by the Federal Government at a time when some industries did everything they could to break the rules and pollute our air and our waterways... Those persistent violators are either out of business or forced into compliance. If you have a concern or complaint about an industry in Woodbridge Township, I URGE & ENCOURAGE YOU to contact me at:
